TESSAN Universal Travel Adapter Review

TESSAN’s Universal Travel Adapter is designed to simplify international travel by combining multiple regional plug types and USB charging ports into a single compact unit. It supports outlets used in more than 150 countries, including the UK, EU, US and Australia, using a sliding‑switch mechanism that locks each plug securely in place. The adapter includes two USB‑C ports, two USB‑A ports and a universal AC socket, allowing up to five devices to charge at once. It does not convert voltage, but it incorporates safety features such as overload protection, an 8A fuse and flame‑retardant materials. The design is lightweight and portable, making it suitable for hand luggage or day bags, and the feature set reflects a focus on convenience rather than specialist power needs.

Design and Build Quality

The adapter uses a compact block design with rounded edges, making it easy to pack without taking up unnecessary space. The sliding‑switch system for selecting plug types feels secure, and the locking mechanism prevents accidental retraction during use. The universal AC socket accepts a wide range of plug shapes, and the USB ports are positioned to avoid cable clutter. The materials feel durable, and the unit includes a spare fuse, which is a practical addition for long trips. The overall build quality aligns with expectations for a mid‑priced travel accessory.

Charging Features and Performance

The combination of two USB‑C and two USB‑A ports gives the adapter enough flexibility to charge phones, tablets, headphones and other small electronics simultaneously. Output levels are suitable for everyday devices, although not intended for high‑wattage laptops or fast‑charging standards that require more advanced power delivery. The universal AC socket supports devices rated for the destination country’s voltage, and it aims to deliver stable charging performance across multiple regions. The adapter’s lack of voltage conversion is clearly stated, and it remains important for travellers to check their devices’ voltage compatibility before use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8qYPimMVPwk

Safety and Protection

TESSAN includes several safety features that are commonly expected in modern travel adapters. The built‑in 8A fuse provides overload protection, and the unit ships with a spare fuse for emergencies. The casing uses flame‑retardant materials, and the internal design is structured to prevent short circuits. These features are highlighted across the official product page, and they contribute to the adapter’s reliability during extended travel.

Everyday Use and Practicality

The adapter is straightforward to use, with clearly labelled switches for each plug type and a compact form that fits easily into travel organisers. The ability to charge multiple devices at once is particularly useful in hotel rooms with limited outlets. The USB‑C ports provide a modern touch, and the mix of port types ensures compatibility with a wide range of devices. The adapter’s limitations are typical for this category: it is not suitable for high‑power appliances such as hairdryers or kettles, and it does not offer voltage conversion. Within its intended role, however, it performs consistently and remains easy to manage.
