One of the best aspects of the Nintendo Switch family of consoles, including the latest best on the block – the Nintendo Switch 2 – is its highly portable nature. Okay, there’s no shoving the console in your pocket, it’s not a Game Boy, but Nintendo’s box of tricks will certainly fit inside most crevices for easy transportation!
Whether it’s winding down the hours on a long haul flight with a long adventure like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth or perhaps a few Mario Kart World races on a train, the Nintendo Switch 2 is an ideal companion. That said, the Nintendo console can be a little delicate. Fragile, perhaps. You would have to be the bravest of brave folk to be lugging it around naked – especially at its price tag. A good case or bag can certainly add a bit of re-assurance that the console will hopefully survive a trip – in both sense of the word.
The PixelReel team have gone hands-on with all sorts of case options, including the Jsaux Ergonomic Battle Armor Protective Case and the slightly heftier Turtle Beach PlayTrek 2-in-1 Case. Another contender for carry companion is the Snakebyte Sling Case for Nintendo Switch 2.
At first glance, it’s a rather nifty looking bag, boasting a blue swirl print along the front. It radiates that sort of still-young-at-heart millennial flare. Cool but not overbearing. It’s made from a rugged, durable and water-resistant nylon exterior – the front panelling in particular lets water easily run off. It does have a stylish feel – not necessarily the most premium overall design, but smart and soft, nonetheless. Along the back, the bag has a breathable mesh – especially useful when lugging the bag about, sitting comfortably on your own back.
Despite a slightly smaller and seemingly snug form factor, the main compartment sized around the Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, there is a fair bit of space inside. The additional pocket can just about squeeze in a Nintendo Switch 2 Pro controller, or one of Snakebyte’s own third-party Switch 2 versions. It is a bit of a squeeze but can work. There’s no integrated game cart holder, but due to the way the zip opens from the top, players will likely benefit from using a compact cartridge wallet instead – slipping in inside the front pocket.
To keep things protected on the move, the Snakebyte Sling Case for Nintendo Switch 2 does have ample padding inside, with a soft, pillowy feel to keep consoles and accessories comfortable. They have feelings too, you know. Apparently. To hold it all together, each compartment comes with individual zips – and held up well in testing – well structured, stitched and secure.
As the name suggests, the Snakebyte Sling Case does include an adjustable single sling-style strap, allowing the bag to be draped over a shoulder for easy carry. When not in use as a Switch 2 companion, it could easily double up as a regular day bag, too. A single boba tea, small snacks, battery pack, and compact notebook? Why not!
It is worth noting that is case, however, is not designed to be drop-resistant – so the console can certainly be prone to some damage, despite the padding inside. The Jsaux Shock-Absorbent Case could be a more suitable option, instead for those who need a little more love and protection.
Overall, the Snakebyte Sling Case is a stylish, comfortable travel bag for the Nintendo Switch 2 – a combination of both a slip style and a lightly larger carry case for a handful of accessories. An ideal contender for everyday use or a short-haul trip to keep hardware well organised and protected from minor scratches/scuffles.
