20 years after the release of Rockstar Games’ controversial Bully, a group of modders have created its GTA Online equivalent with the new mod fittingly titled Bully Online. The mod aims to introduce multiplayer to the single-player game, allowing players to team up with their friends and other players to cause some chaos in Bullworth Academy.
Development of the Bully Online mod is being led by YouTuber and developer SWEGTA. The ambitious multiplayer mod has been in development for some time now, though it will finally launch in early access this December for those who support the team on Ko-Fi. Those who support the team for $8, either as a one-time donation or monthly subscription, will get additional perks for the early access launch, a blue nametag, an in-game camera to store and share up to 10 photos, priority server queue, and access to chat directly to the developers on Discord.
The Bully Online mod “allows you and your friends to play minigames, role-play, compete in racing, fend off against NPCs, and much more.” SWEGTA went on the explain in the video below that it’s more than just a simple multiplayer mod, offering an enticing “mix between minigames, free-roaming, and role-playing.” On top of that, there’s a fully fleshed-out inventory system which lets you earn in-game money to spend on various Bully items from housing to vehicles. It’s clearly inspired by GTA Online and Red Dead Online.
For a while, it seemed like Rockstar did have plans to make a Bully sequel, but it was reportedly canned, costing Take-Two Interactive $53 million.
Rockstar Games is hard at work on Grand Theft Auto 6 right now, which is scheduled to launch in May 2026. The very highly anticipated game is set to become one of the biggest launches in video game history, taking players back to the Miami-inspired setting of Vice City in modern day.
