Anthony Florez

Biography: Anthony Florez is a Native American writer and director from Reno, Nevada. He is a member of the Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe of Northern Nevada. He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 2008 and served on active duty in the U.S. Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer until 2014. In 2018 Anthony was selected for the 21st Century Fox Writers Lab and was also awarded the Tisch School of Arts Dean's Fellowship in television writing to study at New York University's Graduate Dramatic Writing Program (Tisch). Anthony recently directed his own narrative short film "TwoBears" as a 2020 Vision Maker Media short film fellow and worked as a staff writer on a 'NETFLIX original' western anime series as well as the First Native American Cable Drama series "Dark Winds" for AMC. Anthony also served as as the  (see all) Co-Chair of the WGA Native American and Indigenous Writers Committee (NAIWC) for four years.
